Weed Park Lagoon Project

Weed Park is a 64 acre City of Muscatine Park that was donated to the citizens of Muscatine by Dr. James and Mayr Weed in 1899. 

There are two lagoons located on the north side of the park that were in need of repair. The project involved dredging and renovating the two lagoons while also repairing or replacing some of the existing amenities. Included in the project was bank stabilization, observation deck replacement, lagoon dredging, trail development, lighting, and bench pods, duck island stabilization, repairing lagoon leaks, and addressing the drainage flow into the lagoons.

BACKGROUND: The Muscatine City Council approved the plans, specifications, form of contract, and cost estimate for the Weed Park Lagoon Project at their April 18, 2024, meeting. A bid opening was set for 2 p.m. on  May 13, 2024. The project was awarded to Sulzco, LLC, in the amount of $442,172.25 at the June 6, 2024 City Council meeting.
