[ARCHIVED] Community input sought for Housing survey

House in Muscatine

The City of Muscatine is conducting a survey to help assess the housing needs of individuals who live and/or work in Muscatine. Community members are asked to complete the Muscatine Housing Market Demand Study that will provide officials with insights on the public perception of the housing market, the challenges that an individual or family may have in finding adequate housing, and the opportunities that may be available to improve the housing market locally.

“We have conducted seven focus groups in regards to the housing market in Muscatine,” Adam Thompson, community development coordinator, said. “This is the next step … to gather information from the community.”

The goal of the survey is to develop strategies to promote adequate housing for all members of the community.

“The inventory of homes in Muscatine may be limited but we want individuals and families to come, work, live, and stay here and remain a member of the community as their family grows,” Thompson said. “This study will help us to determine and better understand our communities housing challenges.”

The study is available on the City of Muscatine web site or at the following links: Muscatine Community Survey or Muscatine Community Survey (Spanish). Deadline for completing the survey is June 2.
