MUSCATINE, Iowa – Stewart Road is closed at the GPC railroad spur crossing, located just north of Dick Drake Way, due to emergency repairs on a broken section of rail discovered early Thursday morning (Feb. 12).
The City of Muscatine closed the crossing Thursday morning. The contractor performing the repairs expects the crossing to reopen by the end of the day Friday.
Truck traffic requiring access to GPC from Dick Drake Way should detour via Grandview Avenue to Dick Drake Way. Trucks traveling to Musco Lighting and other facilities along Stewart Road or Oregon Street should use Oregon Street/Stewart Road during the closure.
Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes when possible and to follow all posted traffic control signage to help ensure the safety of workers, pedestrians, and fellow drivers.
