[ARCHIVED] Summer fun begins this weekend in Muscatine

MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce the opening of the Muscatine Aquatic Center for the 2025 swim season. After weeks of preparation — including pool filling, water testing, and lifeguard training — the Aquatic Center will officially open its gates at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 24. With favorable weather in the forecast, it’s the perfect opportunity for families to enjoy their first splash of the season.

Regular hours of operation are 12–8 p.m., weather permitting.

Please Note:

  • Sunday, May 25 – Closed for the 45th Annual Melon City Criterium
  • Monday, May 26 (Memorial Day) – Open
  • Tuesday, May 27 through Friday, May 30 – Closed
  • Saturday, May 31 onward – Daily operations resume

Outside of open swim hours, the Aquatic Center will host a variety of programs, including swimming lessons, lap swims, and private pool parties. Full details can be found in the 2025 Activities Brochure. To schedule a party, purchase a season pass, or get more information, contact Parks and Recreation at (563) 263-0241.

Summer Program Registration Deadline Approaching

Registration for summer programs is still open, but time is running out. All program details are available in the 2025 Activities Brochure. The registration deadline is 5 p.m. on May 30.

Memorial Day Ceremony at Greenwood Cemetery

Mississippi Mist Splash Pad Closed for 2025

The Mississippi Mist splash pad will remain closed for the second consecutive year as the City works on renovations to ensure its long-term use. The City is currently awaiting approval from the Iowa DNR before beginning construction.

Taylor Park Splash Pad Opening for the Season

Good news: The Taylor Park Splash Pad will be operational before Memorial Day weekend.

  • Hours: 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Note: No on-site supervision. Parents are responsible for supervising children.
