[ARCHIVED] Park closures and parking restrictions set for Saturday’s busy lineup of events

Traffic Alert - Generic 01

MUSCATINE, Iowa – It’s going to be a busy Saturday in Muscatine! Visitors to the riverfront and Weed Park are encouraged to plan ahead for temporary parking restrictions and park closures as the community comes together for several fun fall events.

The Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department will host the 15th Annual Fall Festival at Pearl City Station, while the Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GMCCI) brings back the 5th Annual Pearl City Vintage Market to the downriver end of Riverside Park.

To make room for both events, the small parking lot downriver of Pearl City Station will be closed from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 11. Visitors can park upriver inside Riverside Park, along Mississippi Drive, or in one of the City of Muscatine’s downtown parking lots.

The Fall Festival runs from 1 to 3 p.m. and will feature fall-themed crafts, games, and activities designed especially for children in kindergarten through fourth grade. Families can also browse the Pearl City Vintage Market from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., where local vendors will offer antiques, collectibles, and handmade goods.

Across town, the Pink-Tastic 1 Mile Run/Walk and 5K Run will take over Weed Park on Saturday morning. To keep runners safe, the park will be closed to vehicle traffic from 7:30 a.m. to noon, and parking near the tennis courts will also be restricted during that time.

The Pink-Tastic events are sponsored by Muscatine Community College and Eastern Iowa Community Colleges, with support from the Muscatine Running Club and the City of Muscatine. Proceeds will benefit the Cancer Support Community of Iowa and NW Illinois at Gilda’s Club.

For more information about any of Saturday’s events, contact the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department at 563-263-0241 or visit www.muscatineiowa.gov.
