MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Muscatine City Council has approved a change to its meeting schedule following a vote to amend the Rules of Council on September 4. Beginning this month, regular City Council meetings will move from Thursday evenings to the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers on the second floor of Muscatine City Hall.
All City Council meetings are open to the public, providing residents an opportunity to observe, engage, and participate in local government. Regular meetings follow a set agenda, allow for public input, and include formal votes on city business such as policies, budgets, and ordinances.
In addition, in-depth sessions will be scheduled on the second Tuesday of each month as needed. These sessions, also known as work or study sessions, are designed for detailed discussion and presentations on complex issues such as zoning, land use, development projects, or budget planning. While no formal votes are taken during in-depth sessions, they give council members and staff the opportunity to explore key topics in greater detail. Public comment is generally not received at these sessions, with any action items deferred to a future regular meeting.
