MUSCATINE, Iowa – Sections of East 5th Street and Baker Street will be closed to through traffic beginning Monday, August 11, to accommodate two separate underground utility projects. The closures were approved by the Muscatine City Council during their August 7 meeting.
East 5th Street Closure (August 11–18)
East 5th Street will be closed between Orange Street and Oak Street for the installation of a new sewer service to support the Community Foundation Triplex Development. The project will be completed by Monday, August 18, weather permitting.

Detour: Motorists should use East 6th Street between Mulberry Avenue and Oak Street or detour via Mulberry Avenue to East 2nd Street and back to Oak Street.
Baker Street Closure (August 11–15)
Baker Street will be closed between Oregon Street and Nebraska Street for water and sewer utility work. The closure is expected to last through Friday, August 15, weather permitting.

Detour: Drivers should use Earl Avenue or Benham Avenue as alternate routes between Oregon and Nebraska Streets.
