MUSCATINE, Iowa – The City of Muscatine is currently accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the Planning and Zoning Commission. This volunteer commission plays a key role in shaping the city’s future growth and development.

Ideal candidates should have relevant knowledge or experience in areas such as city planning, zoning, land use, or community development. Members are responsible for reviewing and making recommendations on land use policies, zoning matters, updates to the Comprehensive Plan, and real estate vacation requests.

Selection Process

All applications are reviewed by the Nominating Committee, which includes the Mayor, two City Council members, and the City Administrator or a designee. Candidates are evaluated based on qualifications and potential conflicts of interest, and recommended appointments are submitted to the City Council for final approval.

The City welcomes applicants with both subject matter knowledge and a passion for public service. Even if no immediate vacancies are available, applications are kept on file for future consideration.
