MUSCATINE, Iowa – In observance of Independence Day, all City of Muscatine offices and departments will be closed on Friday, July 4, 2025. This includes offices located at City Hall, Public Works, and other city facilities. Normal operations will resume at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 7.
While essential services such as the Muscatine Police Department, Muscatine Fire Department, and MUSCOM will remain fully staffed, their administrative offices will be closed on Thursday. Public Works will have on-call staff available for emergency situations.
Changes to City Services for July 4 Holiday:
- Refuse Collection
No curbside trash or yard waste collection on Friday (July 4). Residents on the Friday route will have their trash picked up on Thursday (July 3) along with the regular Thursday route. - Recycling Collection
There will be no recycling collection on Friday. Route A will be collected on Saturday (July 5). - Bulky Waste Collection
No bulky waste collection on Thursday or Friday due to the adjusted refuse schedule. For more information, visit the Bulky Waste Collection page. - Yard Waste Collection
Yard waste collection will also be suspended on Thursday and Friday. - Transfer Station & Compost Facility
The Muscatine Transfer Station and Compost Facility will be closed on Friday. The Compost Facility will reopen on Saturday from 9 a.m.–6 p.m. and Sunday from 12–6 p.m. For details, call 563-263-8689 or visit the Solid Waste Division page. - MuscaBus (Public Transit)
