[ARCHIVED] No in-depth session for Council; budget review continues

MUSCATINE, Iowa – The February In-Depth session for the Muscatine City Council has been cancelled according to City of Muscatine officials. Instead, the Council will conduct another round of their Budget Review Sessions.

Thursday’s budget review session will begin at 6 p.m. in the Muscatine City Council Chambers. Discussion items will focus on Department of Public Works divisions including Administration, Engineering, Roadway Maintenance (Traffic Control, Snow and Ice, Street Cleaning), Building & Grounds, Collection & Drainage, Equipment Services, and Equipment Replacement.

The Parks and Recreation Department will have their time before the Council at 6 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 7). Discussion items will include administration, park maintenance, Aquatic Center, recreation, Soccer Complex, Kent Stein, wellness, Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine Municipal Golf Course, Muscatine Municipal Boat Harbor and Marina, and the Sports Dome.

Budget Review sessions began last Saturday with the Administration, Community Development, Muscatine Art Center, Musser Library, Muscatine Police, and Muscatine Fire presenting their proposed budgets to Council. Tuesday’s (Feb. 6) session featured outside agencies including GMCCI, Senior Resources, Humane Society, and MCSA. There will be another session this Saturday, Feb. 10, that will feature a visit from local legislatures along with discussions on housing, transit, parking, refuse collection, landfill, transfer station, WPCP, and stormwater. A final session is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 13, 

All sessions are open to the public.
