Temporary Stop Signs at Sycamore and West 8th (JPG) July 21, 2023

MUSCATINE, Iowa – The City of Muscatine will place temporary stop signs on West 8th Street at the intersection with Sycamore Street starting Monday (July 24). The additional stop signs are being placed to ensure the safety of citizens driving through the intersection and construction workers who will be working in the 800 block as part of Phase 6 of the West Hill Sanitary and Storm Sewer Separation Project.

Signage will be placed at the Cedar and Iowa intersections with West 8th Street indicating a stop ahead and red flags will be placed on the stop signs at the intersection to bring further attention to the signs. Drivers are asked to use caution when navigating through the intersection as construction vehicles will be entering and exiting Sycamore at the intersection starting Monday.

The stop signs will be removed once construction activity has moved down to the 900 block of Sycamore Street.

Please be patient …

Drivers are reminded to slow down and use caution when travelling through construction zones, obey traffic control devices, and be aware of workers. Use alternate routes if possible. For more information, click CONSTRUCTION to visit the Department of Public Works Construction Projects page.
