MuscaBus services are open to the general public, including persons with disabilities. No animals are allowed on the buses, except for service animals.
 

Yellow Route Construction
It’s that time of the year……. Beginning on Monday, April 26th the Roundabout on Cedar Street will be closed for construction. The YELLOW ROUTE will be affected. It will operate as published from City Hall to Logan Street. After passing the Muscatine Community Y, the bus will travel back on Logan to Fulliam, turn right on Houser, and return to the route on Cedar to Cedar Plaza Drive.

The YELLOW ROUTE will not travel on Cedar Street from Houser to Logan. Any passengers needing access to those locations will have to request a ParaTransit (Shuttle) bus at least one day in advance.

Construction will last until June 5, 2015.

Rate Increase 

Effective July 1, 2015 MuscaBus will have a rate increase for all passengers. A public hearing was held during the City Council meeting on Thursday, April 2, 2015 approving the increase.

A ROUTE ride  fare will go from .75 to $1.00 per ride. Transfers on route rides will continue to be free. Children under 5 ride free with a paying adult on routes.  A sheet of 12 ROUTE tickets will be $12.00. A monthly ROUTE flash pass will go from $28.00 to $32.00. 

PARATRANSIT (Shuttle), JARC and New Freedom rides will increase from $1.00 per ride to $2.00 per ride. A sheet of 12 PARATRANSIT tickets will be $24.00. 

SHELL rides will increase from $1.00 per ride to $1.50 each ride. Tickets are not available for Shell Service.

School's Out 2015
MuscaBus offers free ROUTE RIDES for students during summer months

When school is out for the summer…….. Muscatine K – 12 students can ride MuscaBus route buses for free!!!!  That’s right, no charge, no dinero, absolutely free.  Information about route buses can be found on the City’s website www.muscatineiowa.gov . Weekday and Saturday schedules can be found under the Government tab - Departments – Public Transit on the website. Parents or students with questions can call 263-8152 or ask a driver for assistance. Middle and High School students need to carry their school i.d.’s for verification. Free rides begin on Saturday, May 30, 2015 through Saturday, August 29, 2015.

The Routes are changing………
 


On Monday, March 23rd MuscaBus is making the following changes:
The GREEN ROUTE will expand its hours of operation due to the opening of the Unity Clinic. The Green Route will operate from 7:40 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. The route will continue to leave from the Muscatine Mall at 10 and 40 minutes after the hour. At 10 minutes after the hour the route will head East via Harrison Street, to Colorado, University, Highway 61, Cleveland, Frontage, Lake Park Blvd back to the Mall. At 40 minutes after the hour the route will head North, travelling the existing route. 

The YELLOW ROUTE is also making a change. Simply put, we are reversing the existing YELLOW route. 

The BLUE ROUTE when travelling North will no longer go to WalMart. So a minor change for the BLUE ROUTE will happen when returning to City Hall. The route will travel Park Avenue, East 2nd, Oak, East 5th, Mulberry to City Hall.     No changes are being made to the BLUE ROUTE when heading South.


Bike & Ride
MuscaBus now hosts a bike rack on the Blue Route - Bus #242. This Bike & Ride offering will allow passengers to use the bicycle rack free of charge with the purchase of a regular bus fare ticket or monthly flash pass.

Bike & Ride Rules


Route Information: MuscaBus operates Red, Blue, and Yellow routes from 6:30 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. The Green Route operates from 11:40 am to 3:40 pm Monday through Friday. On Saturdays, MuscaBus operates Red and Blue routes from 8:30 am to 4 pm All rides are $.75 each. Transfers are free. Children under 5 ride free with a paying adult. A sheet of 12 tickets is available for $8.25. A monthly flash pass with unlimited rides is $28 per passenger.

ParaTransit Information: MuscaBus operates paratransit service for individuals unable to access the route bus due to disability. The operating hours for paratransit service are Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 5 pm and Saturdays from 8:30 am to 4 pm. All rides are $1 each. A sheet of 12 paratransit tickets is available for $11. Personal care attendants ride free when accompanying a rider with a disability. Arrangements for a paratransit ride need to be made a day in advance. Call 263-8152 to schedule. This service began as "Dial-A-Ride" and has also been called "shuttle" service.

Paratransit service is offered within Ripley's. The service is offered Monday through Friday from 11:40 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. Disabled passengers wanting to utilize paratransit service will need to schedule a ride a day in advance, by calling 263-8152. Passengers utilizing this service must have the new house number posted visibly from the street.

Route Updates
Route Service to the Palm's Theatre: Passengers wanting to take in a movie at the new Palm's Theatre will access the Yellow Route. This route deviation is offered on the half hour only. Call 263-8152 with questions or ask the MuscaBus driver.

No Bus Service on Holidays
No service is provided on the following holidays:

  • Presidents Day
  • Memorial Day
  • 4th of July
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday
  • Christmas Eve
  • Christmas Day
