MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Muscatine City Council will be asked to set three public hearings and approve contracts for the planning and design of the Riverfront Amphitheatre Project and a watershed study of the Lake Park Boulevard area when they meet Thursday (July 15).
The Muscatine City Council will meet in Council Chambers at Muscatine City Hall starting at 7 p.m. Thursday. Citizens interested in attending the meeting will be able to sit together as long as they leave a seat open between groups. Citizens who are fully vaccinated will not have to wear a mask but those who have not been vaccinated are encouraged to wear a mask while inside City Hall.
RDG Planning & Design was selected by a committee comprised of city staff, citizens, and elected officials to develop a preliminary design for the Riverfront Amphitheatre in Riverside Park. This is just the first step of the project and will include a series of public meetings that will be scheduled later.
Watersmith Engineering was selected to conduct a watershed study of the Lake Park Boulevard area. The study will help determine possible courses of action that can be used to mitigate street flooding in the 700 block of Lake Park Boulevard.
The Council will be asked to approve three public hearings for the August 5 Council meeting including a hearing on vacating certain utility easements in Lot 1 of Arbor Commons Subdivision, a hearing on vacation and sale of right-of way adjoining 1820 Angle Street, and a hearing on an application for Community Development Block Grant funds.
Also on the agenda are three items revolving around 704 Spring Street. The Council will be asked to approve a resolution to accept a quick claim deed to the property, a resolution declaring the property as surplus, and a request to approve a development agreement with the Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine. The Foundation plans to renovate the structure into a single family home.
