Police seek public assistance in accident investigation

MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Muscatine Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol is seeking the public’s help with the investigation of an accident early Monday (Aug. 12) morning south of Muscatine.

At approximately 4:50 a.m., Monday, Aug. 12, 2019, a bicyclist was traveling northbound on Highway 61 near the intersection with 41st Street South in Muscatine when he was struck by an unknown vehicle which was also traveling north on Highway 61. The motor vehicle did not stop at the scene.

The bicyclist has been identified as Devin A. Estabrook, 49, Letts, Iowa, who was airlifted from the scene by helicopter to a hospital in Peoria, Ill., where he was pronounced dead.

The Iowa State Patrol is the primary investigating agency for this crash but is being assisted by the Muscatine Police Department.

Both agencies are reaching out to the public to help with this investigation. Anyone that has information about the accident or the vehicle that did not stop at the scene, please contact Lt.
