Blue Zones Project

Welcome to the City of Muscatine’s Blue Zones webpage!

On January 30, 2013, Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Blue Zones and Healthways announced Muscatine as a Blue Zones Project™ demonstration site in Iowa.  As a demonstration site, Muscatine is currently working towards Blue Zones Community™ certification.

As a demonstration site, Muscatine will receive assistance from experts to develop and implement a Blueprint for making permanent environmental, social, and policy changes that transition people into healthier behaviors that can lead to longer, happier lives.

Muscatine Walking Club

The Walking Club is a program sponsored by the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department. Membership is FREE! Club members will walk at the Muscatine Mall and record their minutes at the Walking Club Information Center, located in the center court of the mall.
