The Iowa Watercolor Society’s annual traveling show will be on view this year at the Muscatine Art Center from April 6 through May 26. During the reception a watercolor painter will give a demonstration. Paintings by local artists will be exhibited in the Musser-McColm Mansion, Gallery A. Each fall, the IWS sponsors an annual luncheon, award ceremony, and workshop. This is a juried exhibition with monetary awards. The IWS accepts entries in water media on watercolor paper. From this exhibit a traveling show is created and provides outreach around the state.

Forget the grey skies of March - exhibitions this April and May at the Muscatine Art Center will feature plenty of color! Muscatine 4th and 5th graders have each contributed a work of art to showcase in the student art exhibition. Clay “totem” spoons, animal masks, self-portraits, landscapes, Louise Nevelson inspired assemblages, and more are on view in the Stanley Gallery from April 6th through May 5th. Over the last several months, the Muscatine Art Center staff has worked with team of local art teachers to prepare for the exhibition. Art teachers Nancy Foxen, Danielle Holder, Wendy Waltert Stansbery, Kristin Hazelett, Jess Hill, and Mary Alice Sessler have made the exhibition possible.
