MUSCATINE, Iowa – It may be a little bit early for residents to venture outside and begin yard work, but the Department of Public Works (DPW) has announced that the annual Spring leaf collection has been scheduled for two weeks in April.
DPW leaf vacuum trucks will be out on the streets of Muscatine between April 12-23 collecting leaves raked to the boulevard in front of a homeowners residence.
The trucks will work one zone per day starting with Zone 7 on Monday, April 12, and work until all eight zones are completed. Residents should have their leaves piled in the boulevard in front of their residences for pickup one day before the DPW trucks will be in their zone (see schedule below).
Residents can also contact Public Works by phone (563-263-8933) or email firstname.lastname@example.org between April 1 and April 16 to schedule a day for leaf collection.
The two week period of April 12-23 is the only time that leaf collection will be conducted by the City of Muscatine during the Spring season. Residents are reminded that they can bag their own leaves and take them to the Compost Facility at the Muscatine Transfer Station. The Compost Facility will be open weekends starting March 13 and will resume normal operating hours on Saturday, April 3. (See COMPOST FACILITY)
