Serious Accident Investigation

The Muscatine Police Department maintains a group of specially training officers to respond to vehicle collisions that involve serious injury or death. These officers go through hundreds of hours of classroom and field training in all areas related to the investigation of serious accidents. The classes cover such things as Vehicle Dynamics, Collision Reconstruction, Diagramming the Scene etc. This training allows the Serious Accident Investigation Team (SAIT) member to respond to the scene of an accident involving serious injury or death, conduct a thorough investigation, produce a highly accurate scale diagram of the scene and present the facts of their investigation to others in any formal (court) or informal (insurance claim review) setting.
